Container
English is generally used for shipping containers or storage containers.
First trip container
New shipping containers are essentialy produced in China, from where they realise their first trip to be sold afterwards on the French market
Last trip container
Second hand container rented by shipping companies ( Evergreen, Cma – cgm , MSc, … ) or specialized rentors ( Cronos, CAI , Eurotainer …).
Companies renew regularly their containers by selling them on parallel markets They offer different qualities:
CWO = Cargo Worthy = new or renovated product , ready for boarding on ship.
AS IS = The container must undergo repairings before being reused for sea freight .
Dry standard container
The most common container , it is fully closed having grids of vents and a doors on each end . The floor is made of marine plywood. The most used containers are 20 feet and 40 feet.
Refrigerated containers (reefer)
Container used for the transport of goods requiring a controlled atmosphere (temperature and humidity) , with insulated walls and refrigerating group ( device to freeze , refrigerate or heat ) . Refrigerated containers require a three phase electrical connection.
Open top container
Identical to a dry container , with one difference the roof is replaced by a tarpaulin to facilitate vertical loading and unloading.
Tank container
Container consists of a frame with iso standards and a tank.The tanks can be insulated and equipped with a heating system. Tanks are classified into two food categories (T0 ) and chemical ( T4).
Flat container
Container consists of a platform and side walls. The walls may sometimes be mobile in order to facilitate storage .
